Our whole existence as a natural bed company can be traced back to the simple cotton futon. This basic style of bed is still one of the most popular choices among natural bed purists, and with an array of thicknesses from which to choose, it's no wonder this flexible classic endures like no other and holds a permanent place in our hearts.
The 6" Cotton Futon makes a good, firm bed or a flexible cushion for an A-frame or tri-fold futon frame. Great for adults when used on the floor or tatami mats, wonderful for kids when placed on slatted frames.
The 6" Cotton & Wool Futon is great for people who like the firmness of cotton, but want the added softness and dust mite prevention of wool. A bit softer than the all-cotton 6" Natural Bed, it has five inch-thick layers of cotton and two half-inch layers of wool, total.
The 8" Cotton Futon is a timeless classic. These firm, thick, sturdy beds are the first item we started making over 25 years ago, and are still one of our customer favorites. They're plenty substantial for kids and adults alike.
The 8" Cotton & Wool Futon is very similar to our 8" Cotton, but a bit softer, since instead of all eight inches/layers being made of cotton, it has seven inch-thick layers of firm cotton and two half-inch layers of wool, total.
In order to keep any natural bed clean, dry, and soft, add a 100% Natural Mattress Pad to your order. The pad absorbs the natural moisture that your body loses during sleep and will make your bed last longer and stay both soft and strong.
* Our standard cotton batting is grown conventionally, misted with mineral oil to reduce dust, and lightly sprinkled with boric acid powder to meet Federal fire safety regulations. Boric acid is a natural mineral salt, and it is 3 times less toxic to the body than aspirin. The powder binds to the cotton fibers, so there is no loose boric acid powder in our beds. There is no boric acid in the cases.
**An important note: Cotton Futons are fairly heavy, and the larger sizes can be difficult to maneuver when flipping and rotating (the King size 8" Cotton Futon weighs around 120 lbs). If you're thinking about purchasing a King or Cal-King size Cotton Futon, layering two thinner, lighter, Shikibuton-style futons together might be a better way to go. The feel will be the same, but the maintenance will be so much easier, and your back will thank you!
