Whether you sleep on a cotton futon, a latex mattress, or even a natural innerspring, our Wool Toppers can make your bed feel even better than it already does!
Made from thick layers of domestically farmed EcoWool (wool that is raised organically but is not all organically certified) and enclosed in organic cotton ticking, our fluffy soft wool toppers are the perfect way to add a plush pillowtop feel to any bed* - naturally!
And because sleeping on wool can help relieve pressure, can balance body temperature, and can improve blood circulation, our wool toppers may also help provide some relief from body parts that chronically ache due to arthritis and fibromyalgia.
2" Wool Topper. To add a layer of cloudy softness to your bed, choose our 2" Topper. This dreamy topper is one of our most popular items to date, and is the perfect compliment to our Classic Latex mattress (but we think it feels great on every bed we make!).
4" Wool Topper. For an even more luxurious night's sleep, choose our 4" Topper (pictured to the right), built with twice the wool for twice the fluffy comfort and softness. This is also the thickness we most often recommend for easing joint pain and relieving pressure in hips and shoulders.
For a 2" topper, we use 3.75 lbs. (60 oz.) of wool per square yard. For a 4" topper, we use 7.5 lbs. (120 oz.) per square yard.
And remember to use a 100% Natural Mattress Pad on top of the wool topper. Using a mattress pad can add years of life and softness to the toppers by absorbing moisture and preventing the wool from felting prematurely.
*We don't make any of our beds with memory foam, but if you have a memory foam mattress, we don't recommend using a wool topper. The insulating property of wool interferes with how memory foam works, which uses body heat to allow it to conform to the body. Using a wool topper with a memory foam mattress will make a memory foam mattress feel considerably firmer.
Also, if you sleep on a conventional innerspring mattress and you tend to sleep hot, a wool topper may or may not have an effect on your sleep temperature. Wool is a great temperature regulator, but the synthetic materials used in most conventionally built innerspring mattresses can interfere with wool's insulating properties.
