Without a doubt, the combination of a Classic Latex Mattress and a wool or latex topper is our most popular, bestselling setup to date.
This simple, yet oh-so-comfortable mattress is made of a 6" latex core surrounded by layers of our unique organic wool textile and porous organic cotton cloth (making the mattress naturally flame retardant), then everything is enclosed in a 100% cotton case.
After trying out everything in our showroom, a huge majority of our customers choose this combination, and many of us who work here have this setup at home, including our founder, Douglas. He's been sleeping on his latex mattress for well over a decade now, and he loves it just as much today as when he first brought it home. Now that's long-term product testing!
Choosing a firmness:
* Firm: Most of our customers, regardless of size, weight, or age say they feel the most comfortable on this firmness. It has just the right amount of support and give for just about everyone. So if you want to purchase a latex mattress but can't make it into our store, chances are you'll probably feel great on firm latex, too.
* Extra-Firm: Extra-firm latex tends to feel best to people who are used to sleeping on cotton futons, people who sleep mostly on their backs, and to tall, thin folks whose long limbs feel better when their bed gives less underneath them.
Choosing between "Classic" and "Natural Classic":
* Classic: The standard version of the Classic is our most popular mattress to date. It's made with blended Talalay process latex (in a ratio of 20%-30% natural rubber to 70%-80% synthetic rubber), and is enclosed in a standard cotton case. Although there is a significant amount of man-made rubber in blended Talalay latex, all studies indicate that it's as non-offgassing as natural latex. Blended Talalay latex is airy and elastic, and it conforms to the body quite readily, gently supporting hips and shoulders while firmly filling in hollows in the lower back. The Blended Talalay latex core carries a 20 year, non-prorated warranty, so we're pretty sure it'll last a lot longer than that, even.
* Natural Classic: The natural version of this mattress features natural Talalay-process latex and a 100% organic cotton case. Natural Talalay latex is made just from the milk of the Hevea tree, is non-offgassing, and contains no synthetic rubber or man-made chemicals. Natural Talalay latex also has a slightly softer feel than the synthetic version, but doesn't last quite as long - it comes with a 10 year, non-prorated warranty (which again means it'll most likely last for longer than that, but just to be safe, the official lifespan is 10 years).

Though the Classic Latex Mattresses feel pretty good all by themselves, we find that most of our customers prefer to add a topper of some sort to the mattress (and so do we!). The 2" Wool Topper is our most popular, the Natural Latex Topper is the most resilient, and the 4" Wool Topper is wonderful for adding extra cloudy support and truly luxurious softness.
