The pads are cut about 6 inches longer and wider than standard bed sizes and will shrink to fit upon the first washing. The first wash will also remove the corn starch sizing in the fabric, so don't be alarmed if your mattress pad feels a little stiff right out of the package - it'll be nice and soft once it comes out of the dryer.

Tip: If you're outfitting a child's bed, consider getting two pads so one can stay on the bed while the other is in the laundry.

Pads are just about 1/8" - 1/4" thick when washed & fluffed up, so they're not meant to provide softness, necessarily, just protection.
